The perfect time for Miami holidays is between the months of March and May. At this time, visitors can enjoy daily temperatures that range in the mid 20’s, while the remainder of the country persists in the defrosting phase.

Located at the mouth of the Miami River on the lower east coast of Florida, Miami is bordered on the east by Biscayne Bay, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. Further east, the islands of Key Biscayne and Miami Beach shelter the bay from the Atlantic Ocean, thus providing Miami with a naturally protected harbor. Once pine and palmetto flatlands, the Miami area boasts sandy beaches in its coastal areas and gives way to sparsely wooded outlying areas. Hurricanes occasionally affect the area in September and October; tornadoes are rare. Waterspouts are sometimes sighted from the beaches in the summer, but significant damage seldom occurs.

The hot season lasts for 3.8 months, from 5 June to 30 September, with an average daily high temperature above 30°C. The hottest day of the year is 9 August, with an average high of 32°C and low of 26°C. The cool season lasts for 3.0 months, from 6 December to 6 March, with an average daily high temperature below 26°C. The coldest day of the year is 17 January, with an average low of 17°C and high of 24°C.

Roatán is the largest and most developed of the Bay Islands. Long and thin (50km long, but only 2km to 4km wide), the island is (like neighboring Utila) a diving and snorkeling paradise – virtually its entire coastline is fringed by an astonishingly diverse coral reef teeming with tropical fish. On land, exquisite white-sand beaches like West Bay, a mountainous interior of pine-forested hills and the remote wild east of the island (once a pirate hangout) beg to be explored.

Roatán attracts a far more midrange crowd than Utila, and has fewer budget options. Nearly all backpackers base themselves in West End, where most of the shoestring places are located along with a lively and fun traveler's scene.

Gigantic cruise ships visit Roatán regularly, but dock at Coxen Hole or Mahogany Bay. You'll probably see minivans full of cruise-shippers around the island's hot spots during the day.

Roatán is an island in the Caribbean, about 65 kilometres (40 mi) off the northern coast of Honduras. It is located between the islands of Útila and Guanaja, and is the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras. The island was formerly known in English as Ruatan and Rattan.

It is approximately 77 kilometres (48 mi) long, and less than 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) across at its widest point. The island consists of two municipalities: José Santos Guardiola in the east and Roatán, including the Cayos Cochinos, further south in the west.

The island rests on an exposed ancient coral reef, rising to about 270 metres (890 ft) above sea level. Offshore reefs offer opportunities for diving. Most habitation is in the western half of the island.

The most populous town of the island is Coxen Hole, capital of Roatán municipality, located in the southwest. West of Coxen Hole are the settlements of Gravel Bay, Flowers Bay and Pensacola on the south coast, and Sandy Bay, West End and West Bay on the north coast. To the east of Coxen Hole are the settlements of Mount Pleasant, French Harbour, Parrot Tree, Jonesville and Oakridge on the south coast, and Punta Gorda on the north coast.

The easternmost quarter of the island is separated by a channel through the mangroves that is 15 metres wide on average. This section is called Helene, or Santa Elena in Spanish. Satellite islands at the eastern end are Morat, Barbareta, and Pigeon Cay. Further west between French Harbour and Coxen Hole are several cays, including Stamp Cay and Barefoot Cay.

The standard breakfast in Honduras is a plate of eggs, normally scrambled, tortillas, cheese and ham, which is highly fulfilling. For those wanting a more western option, breakfasts such as cornflakes are available.

One of the most common foods, which can be found all over the country is the baleada, a white flour tortilla filled with beans, cheese, and cream. Baleadas are sold on the numerous snack vendors lining the streets, an inexpensive and fulfilling snack, several baleadas could constitute a meal. Many of the street vendors also sell Tajadas, which is fried plantain.

A more imaginative dish in Honduras is the delicious Pinchos, a shish kebab, which is skewered and then grilled with plenty of vegetables. This meal is served with an anafre, this is a heated clay pot filled with beans, cheese and cream, great accompanied with toasted tortillas.

The national dish of Honduras is Plato Tipico, a plate of food with many accompaniments including beef, the stable diet of the country, fried plantain, beans, marinated cabbage, sour cream, and plenty of tortillas on the side.

The main and stable diet in Honduras consists of meat, and there are options for vegetarians however few. The most easily available dish would be rice, beans and cooked vegetables.

Many travelers planning to visit Roatan in the western Caribbean look for the Roatan weather & climate patterns beforehand. Individuals traveling from North America and Canada will be pleased to know that the temperatures vary only about 10 degrees throughout the entire year. Roatan’s tropical rainforest climate is consistent and ideal for land and sea adventurers.

Roatan doesn’t have a dry season and the tropical weather of the Caribbean allows for the occasional thunderstorm. Off shore trade-winds, rain, and overcast are all part of the tropical landscape. However, no need to worry, just as fast as the clouds roll in, that’s how fast the sunshine can reappear.

Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands and seldom comes in contact with hurricane activity. However, the island did receive substantial damage from Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Dress Light

You are not going to Siberia, so you probably won’t need that winter jacket that takes up an entire suitcase. A scarf and winter shoes should also stay in the closet. It’s usually hot in Roatan and you will spend a lot of time on the beach. Don’t forget to pack shorts, shirts, and flip flops. Having multiple bathing suits may come in handy and you won’t have to worry if that swimsuit from yesterday is dry or not.

People tend to walk a lot while on vacation, therefore, it is wise to have a pair or two of super comfy sneakers with you. Imagine going hiking in Roatan in some uncomfortable shoes and getting blisters on the second day of your vacation. I’m quite sure that no traveler would want this.

If you want to chill on the beach without having to worry if your skin will burn, make sure to bring plenty of sunblock on vacation. Of course, waterproof sunblock with that has high levels of SPF is recommended, as well as a couple of hats to prevent headaches from the hot sun. To avoid contact with insects, pack a bug spray in your suitcase.

In the lesser-known region of the Mayan Riviera—with its rich history, quaint beaches, and blue lagoon cenotes—towns like Mahahaul and Xcalak make Costa Maya the Mexican port you didn’t know you needed.

Raw and less-curated than other ports in the region, beach towns Mahahaul and Xcalak give you a glimpse into a somewhat undisturbed side of the Yucatán Peninsula—often feeling like Tulum before it became Tu-lum. Bimini has long been known as the Bahamas' big game-fishing capital. Bimini's strong tourist season falls from spring through summer, when calmer seas mean the arrival of fishing and pleasure boats from South Florida. The nearest of the Bahamian islands to the U.S. mainland, Bimini consists of two main islands and a few cays just 50 miles east of Miami, across the Gulf Stream that sweeps the area's western shores. Most visitors spend their time on bustling North Bimini; South Bimini is quieter and more eco-oriented. Except for the vast new Resorts World Bimini development that occupies the island's northern third, most of the hotels, restaurants, churches, and stores in Bimini are in capital Alice Town and neighboring Bailey Town and Porgy Bay, along North Bimini's King's and Queen's highways. Along the east coast of North Bimini are long beaches; on the west, the protected harbor, docks, and marinas. Most of the islands' 2,500 inhabitants reside in the southern 2-mile southern built-up area. Although Alice Town is walkable, the preferred (and fun) way to scoot around is by golf cart. Resorts World Bimini has increased North Bimini's bustle and economy. Three times a week, its Superfast Bimini cruise ship brings over between 500 and 1,000 guests from Miami who spread around the island enjoying its beaches, eateries, bars, nightclubs, and casino.

Bimini is the westernmost district of the Bahamas and comprises a chain of islands located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) due east of Miami. Bimini is the closest point in the Bahamas to the mainland United States and approximately 210 km (130 mi) west-northwest of Nassau. The population is 1,988 as of the 2010 census.

Bimini has three islands, North Bimini, South Bimini, and East Bimini. The largest islands are North Bimini and South Bimini. The District of Bimini also includes Cay Sal Bank, more than 100 km (60 mi) further south, which is geographically not a part of the Bimini Islands but a separate unit.North Bimini is about 11 km (7 mi) long and 200 m (700 ft) wide. Its main settlement is Alice Town, a collection of shops, restaurants, and bars on a road known as "The King's Highway". The second major road is called Queens Highway and runs almost the length of the island parallel to Kings Highway.

South Bimini houses an airstrip, South Bimini Airport, and offers a quiet alternative to the slow bustle of North Bimini. There is a small community of homes on South Bimini known as Port Royale. For many years, South Bimini tourists were limited to boaters because there were few accommodations other than private homes.

Because Bimini is close to Miami, Florida, many American anglers go to the islands by boat to fish or to enjoy the local nightlife. Scuba diving and snorkeling are also popular activities, as there are many shipwrecks in the area, such as the wreck of the SS Sapona, which ran aground in 1926 during a hurricane. The top of the ship is exposed to the air while the bottom half is submerged.[5] Parts of the wreck were stripped over the years and some of the wood was used in the construction of the Compleat Angler Hotel and bar on North Bimini.

The charming islands in the Bimini group are only 50 miles east of Miami and draw visitors from all over the globe with the promise of big-game fishing. However, there’s more to Bimini than the lure of large game fish, since it offers a delightful selection of local island eats that ranges from fresh conch and lobster salad to its famously sweet Bimini bread. Seafood is one of the main staples in the Bahamian diet—a cuisine that is never bland or boring. And while you can find virtually any type of international cuisine in The Bahamas, in Bimini you won’t have any trouble finding fresh local delicacies at reasonable prices.

Average temperatures in South Bimini vary somewhat. Considering humidity, temperatures feel hot for about half of the year and otherwise nice with a fair chance of precipitation about half of the year. The area is somewhat temperate — in the 41st percentile for pleasant weather — compared to tourist destinations worldwide. Weeks with ideal weather are listed above. The warmest time of year is generally early August where highs are regularly around 91.5°F (33.1°C) with temperatures rarely dropping below 79.3°F (26.3°C) at night.

US Dollars are widely available to buy in the UK and if you shop around, it is possible to buy US Dollar cash notes for your American holiday from a variety of outlets. Bureau De Change units in tourist areas in the UK can sometimes offer decent rates as it is a quick way for them to offload excess dollars. There are also a number of online currency providers that allow you to purchase US Dollars by credit or debit card which will then either be delivered to you or can be collected from local pick up points.

The most cost effective way of buying US Dollars is to open a bank account that offers a debit card with no foreign or non sterling transaction fees. Look out for banks that also offer spot/no margin on the exchange rate. You may also be able to get a prepaid debit card with the same benefits. Both of these options allow you to pay for purchases and withdraw cash from local ATM machines. The banks are cards offering fee free foreign exchange is changing all the time, so you will need to ensure that you check that your card still offers this benefit before you travel.

English is the official language of the United States of America and you will be able to speak with the vast majority of people in this language. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the country with approximately 40 million people fluent or conversant in the langauge.

British Citizens require an ESTA prior to travelling to the USA. The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation applies to all citizens of countries that are eligible to enter the country under the Visa Waiver Programme.

Certain citizens of the Visa Waiver countries are still required to obtain a visa prior to traveling to the USA. The following British citizens will require a visa for the US holiday and will not be able to travel to America with an ESTA:

• British Citizens who have a been arrested for certain crimes (even if the arrest did not result in a conviction)
• Dual nationals of certain countries
• Anyone who has travelled to Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen since 2011
