Mr Mark Fortress
Dear Mr Fortress
We are so excited that after so many years of holidays in Orlando you are about to embark on a new adventure in Florida. The itinerary we have put together for you is going to take your breath away.
Florida's State Road A1A is one of the most scenic road trip routes in the nation. It runs along the most eastern border of the state, about as close to the water as you can get.
The views couldn't be better. A1A is a beach-lover's paradise, because it hops from beach to beach. As a bonus, Florida tends to be less expensive than California (except for a few regions near Jupiter Beach), making this beach-hopping car tour both budget-friendly and super laid-back. We have however added a luxury touch for you but some of the best hotels in Florida has to offer.
This is the itinerary that we discussed on the phone. You will see that we have put together a whole array of videos and detail descriptions for each day of your itinerary. If there is anything that you would like to change please let me know and I will update the itinerary accordingly.
Kind regards
Jonny Turquoise

Any trip to Florida is not complete without a peek at Miami’s grand array of attractions. When most people think of Miami, the first thing that comes to mind is the spectacular beaches. But there’s a lot more to Florida’s party city than its amazing white sand and crystal blue waters. A vibrant, energetic city all year round, Miami boasts beautiful parks, gardens, spots to unwind and places to rave it up.
Map Expand
Located at the mouth of the Miami River on the lower east coast of Florida, Miami is bordered on the east by Biscayne Bay, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. Further east, the islands of Key Biscayne and Miami Beach shelter the bay from the Atlantic Ocean, thus providing Miami with a naturally protected harbor. Once pine and palmetto flatlands, the Miami area boasts sandy beaches in its coastal areas and gives way to sparsely wooded outlying areas. A man-made canal connects the city to Lake Okeechobee, located 90 miles northwest of Miami.
Miami's year-round semi-tropical climate is free of extremes in temperature, with a long, warm summer and abundant rainfall followed by a mild, dry winter. Summer humidity levels—usually in the 86 to 89 percent range during the day—make Miami the second most humid city in the United States. Hurricanes occasionally affect the area in September and October; tornadoes are rare. Waterspouts are sometimes sighted from the beaches in the summer, but significant damage seldom occurs.

Cuisine Expand
The streets of Miami Beach are lined with high-end dining establishments teeming with the smells of Peruvian, Cuban, Caribbean, Asian and American cuisine – sometimes all at once. What other cities call "fusion" has a name of its own in Miami Beach: "Floribbean." Prepare to be impressed with its taste and the relatively cheap prices. The South Beach area does have its share of moderately priced eateries, but the most affordable options are tucked away on the side streets. When it comes to meals, some signature Miami Beach dishes visitors should try include stone crab, ceviche, empanadas, Cuban pork sandwiches and pastelitos (pastries filled with sweet or savory fillings).
Climate & Weather Expand

Based on the tourism score, the best time of year to visit Miami for warm-weather activities is from early November to late April.

Clothing & Dress Expand
With year-round sunshine, Miami is always beckoning beach goers, party animals, and art aficionados. Use these packing list ideas for Miami as a launching point for packing for your trip. When deciding what to wear in Miami, keep in mind that the temperatures are hot and the style is even hotter. This is the place to wear your most glamorous and daring ensembles.
Risque cut outs and bodycon dresses are commonplace here, even for daywear. This sensual style is largely due to the large Latinx community that lives here and has a zest for living life colorfully and embracing each moment as an opportunity to celebrate with music, dance, and delicious cuisine.
If revealing clothes aren’t your style, don’t fret. Just keep in mind that the brighter your outfits are, the more you’ll fit in. Miami is one of the many fashion hubs in the United States, especially for swimwear and beach style, so you’re likely to come across many emerging trends.
Unlike other coastal cities, bohemian style is not the go-to for locals who are anything but boho or hippies. The most important thing when creating your travel capsule wardrobe for Miami is to stay true to your own unique sense of dress and to have fun with what you’re wearing!
When planning what to pack, remember that year-round temperatures in the subtropical climate tend to stay above 75°F. Rain is possible during all seasons, so definitely pack a small umbrella that can easily be tossed into your day bag.

Destination: Historic charm and unspoiled beaches Expand
Though not exactly a secret – it was named one of the top islands in the world by Condé Nast readers – Amelia Island is certainly one of Florida’s lesser-mentioned holiday destinations. Surprising, because this island getaway checks off just about everything on a traveler’s wish list: beaches, history, outdoor recreation, shopping, dining and accommodations fit for families and celebrities alike. And as far as numbers go, Amelia Island racks up 21 kilometers of shoreline, 99 scenic holes of golf, a 50-block historic district, more than 100 outstanding restaurants and a calendar full of festivals.
Destination: Beaches for Families, History and Nature Expand
The island’s quartz-sand beaches are picture-perfect; meticulously enforced regulations keep them that way. Families tend to congregate at Main Beach, which also offers handicap access and beach wheelchairs; or Fernandina Beach, just steps away from the historic district. Peter’s Point is popular with cyclists looking to access the 10-kilometer Amelia Island Trail. Collect shark’s teeth and shells at Fort Clinch or see the protected dunes on historic American Beach. At the southern end of the island, you can go horseback riding on the beach at Amelia Island State Park. Looking to escape from it all? Try Little Talbot Island State Park. It remains blissfully undeveloped and teems with wildlife and undisturbed natural habitats.
Destination: History Quest Expand
Amelia Island is one of the state’s most historic locations, claiming many of Florida’s “oldest”: oldest bar, oldest inn, oldest lighthouse and oldest newspaper. The cultural influences of the eight different flags that have flown here since 1562 have seeped into every brick and grain of sand. The Amelia Island Museum of History, housed in the old county jail, offers a comprehensive historical overview, from Timucuan Native Americans to pirates, European settlers, Civil War soldiers and the Victorian elites. From here, take a horse-drawn carriage or walking tour of Fernandina Beach’s 50-block historic district. Watch a living-history demonstration and explore barracks at Fort Clinch State Park. American Beach is the first stop on the Florida Black Heritage Trail; visit the American Beach Museum to learn about this seaside haven for African Americans during the Jim Crow era.

General Information Expand
Travelling to the United States of America is not defined by any one holiday type. This country is so vast that a holiday to America can appeal to virtually any taste. From the skyscrapers of metropolis cities like New York & Chicago to the rural ranches that are set over thousands of acres and offer the ultimate seclusion, a holiday to the USA will not disappoint. This country offers ski, theme parks, beaches, history, culture, cuisine, wellness, adventure, cruise, and so much more
Most UK leisure travellers to the country will be heading to Florida and whilst this in itself offers many diverse holiday types, we are passionate about getting people to see the rest of the country. So if you have already been to one the popular destinations like New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston or San Francisco, we would love to talk to you about what else you can do during a US Holiday. Of course, we can incorporate any of the popular US gateways into a custom multi centre American holiday Itinerary.
Explore the colonial past in New England, the captivating French Quarter of New Orleans, the spectacular red rock formations in the vast mythic deserts of the south west, the lush rainforests of the pacific northwest, the towering peals of the Rocky Mountains or the scenic country lanes of quaint towns and villages across the country. From the awe inspiring natural beauty on display in the country’s many national parks to the iconic symbols such as the Hollywood Sign, Golden Gate Bridge and the Statue of liberty- a holiday to America will captivate you and make you want to come back for more over and over again!

There are also a number of online currency providers that allow you to purchase US Dollars by credit or debit card which will then either be delivered to you or can be collected from local pick up points.
The most cost effective way of buying US Dollars is to open a bank account that offers a debit card with no foreign or non sterling transaction fees. Both of these options allow you to pay for purchases and withdraw cash from local ATM machines. The banks are cards offering fee free foreign exchange is changing all the time, so you will need to ensure that you check that your card still offers this benefit before you travel.
